The Election Commission (EC) has canceled the registration of 96 election observer organizations that were registered during the tenure of the Awami League government.
The matter was confirmed on Thursday (July 17) by Md. Shariful Alam, Director of Public Relations at the EC.
He stated that a new policy has been introduced, replacing the previous one. As a result, all observer organizations registered under the old policy have now had their registrations canceled.
The EC has not yet clarified if or when these organizations may reapply under the new guidelines.
