HSC admission likely to begin late July

The online application process for admission to Class XI (HSC level) is expected to begin at the end of July, according to sources from the Dhaka Education Board.

A draft of the updated admission policy has already been finalized and submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval.

The revised policy is likely to introduce changes in the migration process and timelines of the admission phases.

In addition, there may be reserved seats for family members of those injured or martyred during the July mass uprising—an inclusion not seen in previous admission policies.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education had announced a similar seat reservation—one seat per class—for children of victims of the July movement in the school admission process.

The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams were published on July 10.

The overall pass rate stands at 68.45 percent, with 1,303,426 students passing the exams. Among them, 139,032 students achieved the highest GPA of 5.00.

On Saturday, Dhaka Education Board’s Controller of Examinations, SM Kamal Uddin Haider, told the media that inspectors from all education boards jointly finalized the admission policy and submitted it to the education ministry for approval. “Once the ministry gives the green signal, we’ll publish the official admission circular,” he said.

Asked about the likely date of the circular’s publication, Haider added, “We hope to release it by the end of this month.”

Missionary colleges to follow own admission process

As in previous years, missionary-run colleges such as Notre Dame, Holy Cross, St. Joseph, and St. Gregory will admit students through their own independent admission tests.

Notre Dame College Principal Hemanto Pius Rozario confirmed that they will conduct their own entrance exams again this year, citing a previous ruling from the High Court that allows this process to continue.
