The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) last cut gold prices in the domestic market on Sunday. The price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 235,146. The new price came into effect at 10am on Sunday.
Gold is still being sold at the same price today, Monday.
BAJUS said the new rates were set following a decline in the price of Tejabi gold (pure gold), in the local market.
Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold, including VAT, has been reduced by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 235,146. The price of 21-carat gold has been cut by Tk 2,100 to Tk 224,590 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has also been reduced by Tk 1,750 to Tk 192,864 per bhori. Meanwhile, gold sold under the traditional system has become Tk 1,458 cheaper, with the price set at Tk 157,522 per bhori.
Despite the reduction in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. Including VAT, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 5,132 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 4,957, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,257, and silver under the traditional system at Tk 3,207 per bhori.
