The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again decided to cut gold prices in the domestic market. The association has reduced the price by Tk 1,108 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 234,038 per bhori, including VAT.
BAJUS announced the decision in a notice issued on Wednesday morning. The new prices came into effect at 10am today.
According to the notice, the price of pure gold, locally known as “tejaabi gold,” has fallen in the local market. Taking the overall market situation into consideration, the association has revised gold prices.
Under the new pricing structure, 22-carat gold will cost Tk 234,038 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 223,540 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 191,931 per bhori. Gold sold under the traditional system will cost Tk 156,822 per bhori.
BAJUS said buyers will have to pay 5% VAT and a minimum labour charge of 6% on top of the announced gold prices. However, labour charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on Sunday morning. On that occasion, it cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the price at Tk 235,146, including VAT. The revised prices also took effect at 10am that day.
At the time, the price of 21-carat gold was set at Tk 224,590 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 192,864, and traditional gold at Tk 157,522 per bhori.
So far this year, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted 113 times. Of these, prices have been raised 56 times and lowered 56 times, while VAT was adjusted once.
In contrast, gold prices were adjusted a total of 93 times in the domestic market in 2025. Prices were raised 64 times and reduced 29 times.
