The death toll from Bangladesh’s ongoing measles outbreak has risen to 999, with two more children dying from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8am Tuesday.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified both latest deaths as suspected measles fatalities. One death was reported in Sylhet and the other in Barishal.
The number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 899, while confirmed deaths remain at 100 as no new confirmed measles death was reported during the period.
The outbreak also continues to add new cases. A total of 1,157 suspected cases were recorded in the 24 hours until Monday morning, taking the overall suspected case count to 166,461.
Meanwhile, 79 new confirmed cases were reported during the same period, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 19,835.
Since March 15, 2026, a total of 146,359 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the DGHS.
Of them, 140,850 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
