A 50-year-old woman was hacked to death after miscreants entered her home in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar on Monday night.
The deceased was Rani Shil, wife of Robi Shil, of Kalagazipara in the upazila.
According to her family, Rani was alone at home when a group of miscreants entered the house around 7pm and attacked her with sharp weapons.
She was critically injured in the attack and was taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.
Maheshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sultan said police were informed of the incident and went to the spot.
The OC said police were investigating the killing.
Rani and her husband lived at the house, while their children reside in Chattogram and Dhaka for their studies.
