The second session of the 12th National Parliament is set to commence on May 2, as announced in a letter signed by KM Abdus Salam, Senior Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat on Monday, April 15. The session will convene at 5:00 PM in the Parliament Chamber of Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan, located in Sher Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
The decision to convene the session was made by President Sahabuddin, exercising the authority vested in him by Article 72(1) of the Constitution of the People`s Republic of Bangladesh.
The upcoming session follows the conclusion of the first session of the twelfth parliament, which commenced on January 30 and ended on March 5. During the 22-day session, two bills were passed.
In the 12th National Parliament election held on January 7, the ruling Awami League secured 223 out of 300 seats, with the opposition party Jatiya Party winning 11 seats. Additionally, independent candidates secured 62 seats.
