At least eight people have died and seven others were injured after a fire broke out in an electric scooter showroom in the southern Indian city of Secunderabad.
According to local police the fire started late on Monday in the basement of a hotel that housed an electric scooter showroom.
The fire had been brought under control.
Chandana Deepti, deputy commissioner of police in the city, said a detailed investigation into the cause of the fire had begun.
Police and firefighters used cranes and other equipment to rescue those stranded on upper floors of the hotel, even as smoke billowed out of windows of the four-storey building, local media showed.
