No evidence found in investigation, Anisa denied chance to retake exam

Anisa Ahmed, a highly discussed HSC candidate from Bangla College center in Dhaka, will not be allowed to retake the Bengali First Paper exam she missed.

On June 26, the first day of the exams, Anisa arrived at the exam center an hour late. A photo of her crying went viral on social media, with reports saying she was delayed due to taking her mother—who had suffered a stroke—to the hospital.

Education Adviser Prof. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar had earlier assured arrangements would be made for her to take the exam.

However, inquiries at the Ministry of Education and Dhaka Education Board revealed no official decision has been made to allow her to retake the test, and there appears to be no likelihood of such a decision.

Multiple sources from the board and ministry stated that the issue’s social media portrayal was not entirely accurate.

Following ministry instructions, two separate investigation teams from the Dhaka Board submitted reports finding no evidence supporting Anisa’s claims.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof. Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir said, “We have no decision on this matter. If she scores at least 66 marks in that subject, she will pass.”

Repeated calls to Anisa’s phone went unanswered.

On June 26, unable to sit for the exam, Anisa broke down in tears outside the center. It was reported that her father is deceased and that her mother suffered a major stroke that morning.

As the sole caretaker, Anisa had to take her mother to the hospital, causing the delay and resulting in denial of entry to the exam hall.
