Police constable fires 38 rounds outside Palestinian Embassy

A tragic incident occurred outside the Palestinian Embassy in Gulshan, Dhaka, when Constable Kausar Ali opened fire, resulting in the death of Constable Monirul Islam. Kausar fired 38 rounds from an SMT submachine gun imported from Brazil.

The shooting took place on Saturday, June 8, around 11:45 PM. Both constables were on duty at a police box near the embassy.

Shortly before the incident, Kausar and Monirul had an argument. In the heat of the moment, Kausar used his firearm to shoot Monirul.

IGP‍‍`s Statement After Site Visit

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun visited the scene at 2:30 AM. During a briefing with journalists, he stated, "Around 11:45 PM, two of our constables were on duty in front of the Palestinian Embassy. Constable Monirul Islam was shot dead on the spot by Constable Kausar Ali."

The incident also left Sajjad Hossain, a driver for the Japanese Embassy, injured by gunfire. He has been taken to United Hospital for treatment.
