Jahangir Alam, the former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation, has been permanently expelled from Awami League.
This decision was announced today.
Yesterday, the editorial board of the party recommended the permanent expulsion of Jahangir Alam from Awami League. It is said that this decision has been taken because the party decision has been disobeyed again.
Jahangir Alam became an independent candidate in the Gazipur City Corporation elections without getting the nomination of Awami League. Still Jahangir Alam's candidature was cancelled.
Earlier, Jahangir Alam was permanently expelled from the party for insulting Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs of the Liberation War. His expulsion order was later revoked after he apologized. But, now he again defied the party decision and became a rebel candidate. Not only him, but also his mother has been nominated. He is campaigning for his mother after his nomination was cancelled. He is also speaking against the party there. For this, the leaders recommended him to be expelled from the party forever.
