Dr. Asif Nazrul, Bangladesh’s legal advisor, acknowledged the government’s failures in managing the country’s current law and order situation.

Speaking to journalists before a workshop on "Law Enforcement with Emphasis on Human Rights and the Environment," Dr. Nazrul said, "We have failures, and there is no reason to deny that. The law and order situation is such that we don’t have the luxury of self-satisfaction. However, we are making efforts and engaging in self-reflection. There is a strong drive and determination to overcome these failures. For every failure, there is intense effort."

The workshop, which focused on the country‍‍`s changing situation and the importance of human rights and law enforcement, was held on Monday, February 24, at the PTI Auditorium in Rajshahi.

Dr. Nazrul did not hold back when discussing the challenges faced in rebuilding key institutions.

"We are working with a severely damaged institution, particularly the police administration and the judiciary. Rebuilding from that point is taking time," he explained.

He also shed light on the ongoing threats to law and order, saying, "Declining fascist forces possess billions of taka. With financial resources and ill intentions, they can undermine the law and order situation in the country. This matter is also being closely monitored."

Dr. Nazrul reassured that the Home Advisor is actively working to improve the law and order situation and that the issue is being discussed in coordination meetings.

Asif Nazrul also emphasized the importance of ensuring that justice is served properly.

"For those facing serious charges supported by strong evidence, appropriate action should be taken. Meanwhile, efforts will be made to ensure that those who are innocent are not subjected to unnecessary harassment," he said.

The government’s efforts are clearly focused on rebuilding and improving the country’s institutions and law enforcement to better address the security challenges Bangladesh is facing today.
