The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concern over India’s comments regarding the country`s internal issues, calling them unnecessary and misleading.
Spokesperson Rafiqul Alam emphasized that such remarks are a form of interference in Bangladesh’s domestic matters.
During a press briefing on Thursday, March 13, he responded to a question regarding the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ statement about the treatment of minorities in Bangladesh.
Referring to a comment made on March 7, Alam said, "We noticed the remarks made by the spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs about Bangladesh’s elections, law and order, and issues concerning minorities. Bangladesh firmly believes these are purely internal matters."
Alam went on to state that these comments were not only unwarranted but also a reflection of a misunderstanding of the situation.
“Such statements are an interference in the internal issues of another country, and they are misleading and an inaccurate representation of reality,” he added.
Bangladesh’s spokesperson reiterated that the country strongly upholds the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of others.
He also emphasized Bangladesh`s commitment to building friendly and constructive ties with India based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding.
"From this perspective, we hope that the relevant authorities in the Indian government will take necessary steps to prevent such comments from being made again," he concluded.
This statement highlights the growing sensitivity between the two neighboring countries over remarks about each other’s internal matters.
