Bank accounts opened for the affected businessman of Bangabazar incident

A bank account has been opened to collect funds to help the traders affected by the devastating fire in Bangabazar, Gulistan, in the capital. Anyone can send financial aid from the country and abroad through the savings account number (0200094066031) of the private IFIC Bank.

Helal Uddin, President of the Shop Owners Association, gave this information in a press conference in Bangabazar on Saturday morning.

This business leader said, "The money deposited in that account will be sent to Prime Minister‍‍`s Private Industry and Investment Adviser, Salman F Rahman and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor, Fazle Noor Tapas."

Helal Uddin said that a list of the affected traders is being prepared and after making the list we will explain it to them. They will themselves distribute the money determining the amount of damage. 

Salman F Rahman said that the prime minister wants to pay money from her fund to the affected businessmen.

Regarding the process of helping businessmen, he said, "Once the list is made, the decision will be made that to whom we will give money and, according to the loss, how much we can help."

Bangbazar‍‍`s burnt goods, especially tin and iron, have been sold for around Tk 40 lakh, said Zahirul Islam, General Secretary of Bangabazar Complex Shop Owners Association. That money will also go to the new bank account, he said.

Last Tuesday, Bangabazar owned by Dhaka South City Corporation got burnt in a terrible fire. There were thousands of shops made of wood and tin. Three shops in the adjacent buildings were also burnt in the fire. The number of businessmen affected by the fire is about five thousand; All of them bought new products before Eid in the store, most of which were burnt. According to the traders, the goods worth about 2 thousand crore taka were burnt in the fire.
