BGB-BSF reiterate plan to stop border killings

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have yet again vowed to bring down the border killings to zero level.

The border forces of the two neighbouring nations renewed the years-long pledge in a four-day regional commander level border conference that ended in Kolkata on Wednesday. 

Both sides also agreed to reduce the injuring and beating of unarmed nationals of both countries to zero by adopting extra precautionary measures along the border.

An 11-mmeber Bangladesh delegation led by BGB North-West Region, Rangpur Commander Brigadier General ABM Nowroj Ehsan joined the conference.

The Indian delegation led by Dr Atul Fulzele, Inspector General of the BSF South Bengal frontier, attended the talks with 12 members.

The two sides also agreed to conduct joint patrolling at risky bordering areas, strengthen awareness-raising programme and take up various socio-economic development programme.

Both the sides agreed to exchange immediate and required information in reducing smuggling of drugs including yaba tablets and phensedyl, golds, arms and cows and take effective measures against those who will be found involved with such crimes.
