The killing of Bangladeshi citizens along the border is set to be the main topic at an important upcoming meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India‍‍`s Border Security Force (BSF), according to Home Affairs Advisor, retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in New Delhi, and Chowdhury shared this information during a conversation with journalists at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, January 29.

Chowdhury explained that addressing the killings of Bangladeshi nationals at the border will be the central issue at this year’s border talks.

In addition to calling for an end to the shootings, there will also be a focus on making sure the proper protocols are followed when building barbed wire fences along the border.

The advisor further mentioned that the discussions will also cover the need to cancel and revise certain unequal agreements between Bangladesh and India.

There will be talks aimed at boosting trust and cooperation between the two countries.

Another major topic that will be discussed is tackling the illegal smuggling of drugs, weapons, and ammunition from India into Bangladesh.

In addition, the meeting will cover important issues like the fair sharing of river water, controlling water extraction, making sure water-sharing agreements are being followed, and reopening the Rahimpur canal mouth.
