In the investigation of the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim, CID conducted a search operation in various locations in Kolkata with the arrested Siyam. Kolkata police reported the recovery of bones believed to be linked to MP Anar.
On the morning of Sunday, June 9, CID officers, along with Siyam, arrived at the Bhangar area and began their search in the Bagjola Canal. It was there that they found the bones. However, it is not yet confirmed if these bones belong to MP Anar. Forensic tests will determine the identity.
Siyam was placed on a 14-day remand by the Barasat court in Kolkata on Saturday. Following this, on Sunday morning, Kolkata police took him to various locations in the city for further investigation.
On June 7, Siyam Hossain, a suspect in the murder of Anwarul Azim, was handed over to India after being detained in Nepal.
MP Anar went to India on May 12 for medical treatment, traveling from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah to Darsana in Chuadanga, crossing the Gede border. He stayed at a friend`s house, Gopal Biswas, in Malpara Lane under Baranagar police station in West Bengal. The next day, he left the house to visit a doctor and subsequently went missing under mysterious circumstances.
On May 22, news broke that MP Anwarul Azim was murdered in room BU-56 of a high-rise residential building called Sanjiva Gardens in Newtown, a suburb of Kolkata.
