In a landmark order, the High Court has suggested that the Parliament that declare 10 miles within the border line as the property of BGB in a bid to protect the border and bring down the number of inter-state border crimes to zero and prevent evasion of national revenue.

These are among the four suggestions a bench of the High Court made in the verdict of a case. The 11-page judgment was published on Saturday.

According to the suggestions, 8 km of land from the border line will be completely empty and level so every inch of this 8 km is clearly visible from a distance of 8 km. It is recommended to reserve the space between 8-10 km from the border line for all activities including training and establishment of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Later, the Registrar General was directed to send a copy of the judgment and order to all the judges of the subordinate courts to all MPs through email.

This suggestions came in the judgment that acquitted accused Zakir Hossain from three years sentence in the case filed by the BGB in connection with recovery of Indian sarees at Jessore border during anti-smuggling operation in 1987.
