Fire Service and Civil Defense Control Room Duty Officer, Russel Farooq confirmed that the market caught fire at 8:05 am on Saturday (April, 8). The fire came under control around 9:30 am.
He told The Report.Live that 14 units of the fire service worked to control the fire on Saturday morning at 8:05 am. The fire started from the Barishal Plaza of Banga Islamia Market. The fire was brought under control after about forty minutes. However, he could not immediately give any information about the cause of the fire, damage, and casualties.
On Tuesday (April 3), 5 markets near Bangabazar were completely burnt. More than 5000 shops were burnt in the fire. As the flames of the fire did not stop, the market on the west side of BangaBazar again caught fire.
