Law Minister Anisul Haque affirmed the government`s stance on reforming the quota system for government jobs on Thursday.
He mentioned that the government intends to propose quota reforms in the Supreme Court. Additionally, he stated that discussion would be initiated with protesting students who have expressed willingness to negotiate earlier.
He said, "I have asked the Attorney General to appeal to the court next Sunday for the hearing of the case, so that the hearing can be brought forward."
Addressing the students, Minister Anisul Haque appealed, "I urge you to end the movement, as a father would request his children."
When questioned about the government`s stance on quota reform, the law minister responded, "In principle, we agree with the demands of the protesters regarding quota reform."
He further clarified that since the matter of quota reform is sub judice in the Supreme Court, the government is limited in its actions, but it will advocate for quota reforms during the court proceedings. Therefore, it can be said that the government supports quota reform, he added.
