The body of Mehdi Hasan Swapan, who went missing in the incident of the explosion in the building in Siddikbazar, Gulistan of the capital, has been recovered. The death toll in this incident has increased to 22 people.
On Thursday (March 9) in the third day of the rescue operation, the body was recovered by the fire service personnel around 12:30 PM.
The fire service went to the rescue operation this morning and said that the rescue operation is taking a risk due to the accumulation of water in the basement. They put more emphasis on rescuing Swapan. Apart from this, as there is a lot of water accumulated in the basement, efforts are being made to drain it.
Earlier, a person named Hafez Musa Haider (42) died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Wednesday around 11 pm.
The others killed are - Comilla Md. Sumon (21), Ishaq Mridha (35) of Barisal, Munsur Hossain (40) of Jatrabari, Nurul Islam Bhuiyan and Md. Idris Mir (60), Md. of Old Dhaka. Ismail (42), businessman Momin Uddin Sumon and Samrat, Al Amin (23) of Chandpur, Rahat (18) of Keraniganj, Mominul Islam (38) and Nadi Begum (36) of Chawkbazar, Main Uddin (50) of Munshiganj, Abu Zafar Siddique (34) ), Hafez Md. Musa, Nazmul Hossain (25) of Banshal in Old Dhaka, Akrit Begum (70), Hridoy and Abdul Hasim Siam (35), Obaidul Hasan Babul (55) of Manikganj and Robin Hossain Shanto of Noakhali.
Meanwhile, Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) officials visited the building in the morning. They said that it will be known today whether the damaged building will be demolished or renovated.
Apart from this, to avoid the danger of methane gas, the basement markets of the capital will be tested within seven days, said Tanmoy Das, a member of the development department of Rajuk.
