DB chief Harun transferred amid criticism

As criticism over recent developments centering on the "safe shelter" of six quota movement coordinators keeps deepening, the government has transferred  Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid has been transferred to the Crime and Operations (C&O) of the DMP.

Md Ashrafuzzaman of DMP’s Logistics, Finance and Procurement has been made the new DB Additional Commissioner says a transfer order of three DMP officials including Harun.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman issued the order on Wednesday.

Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Harunor Rashid was criticized for his activities, particularly for feeding people at his office, at the meeting of the 14-party alliance, led by Awami League at the Prime Minister’s official residence Ganabhaban on Monday night.

On Sunday, Harunor Rashid posted several pictures on Facebook, captioned: “Coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement were not safe. So I brought them to the DB office and spoke to them.”

The coordinators of the quota reform movement later read out a written statement from the DB office, urging the withdrawal of the movement.

Other coordinators claimed that the coordinators in custody were forced to announce the withdrawal of the movement.

High Court criticized the government for Harun‍‍`s activities, which has brought criticism at home and abroad, said 14-party alliance leaders.
