Patuakhali mourns the loss of Mohammad Shah-Alam, a dedicated officer of the Dhaka Intelligence Branch (DB), who succumbed to heatstroke at the age of 50 in Baufal. The incident occurred on Monday night, April 22.
Residing in Ward No. 3 Muslimpara of Baufal Town, Shah-Alam`s untimely demise has left his family and community in shock. His daughter, Shimu Akhter, expressed their distress, stating, "We sought answers from the doctors regarding the cause of his death." The doctors at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital confirmed that heatstroke claimed his life.
Prashant Kumar Saha, the Baufal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, shed light on the circumstances surrounding Shah-Alam`s tragic end. He revealed that Shah-Alam sought medical attention due to respiratory distress exacerbated by the scorching heat. Despite receiving initial treatment, his condition deteriorated, prompting his transfer to Barisal for further care.
The loss of Mohammad Shah-Alam serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by extreme weather conditions, urging authorities to prioritize measures to protect frontline workers like him from such risks.
