Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Adviser, recently addressed the ongoing concerns about the Pilkhana massacre.
He mentioned that it`s not yet clear if a commission will be set up to investigate the incident, but he assured everyone that a re-investigation will definitely happen soon.
Chowdhury spoke during a meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials at their headquarters in Pilkhana.
After the meeting, he held a briefing for reporters. He noted that while the law and order situation is getting better, it will take more time to reach a fully satisfactory level.
During the discussion, the adviser stressed that there can be no relaxation at the border.
He emphasized the importance of staying alert and keeping a close watch on activities.
He urged the BGB to take strong action against smuggling to protect national interests.
Chowdhury pointed out that the BGB must follow their laws and guidelines.
He acknowledged that their performance has improved, which has made the public happier with their work.
He also encouraged the BGB to build good relationships with the community.
As members of a disciplined force, they should follow the chain of command, but he reminded them that they should not obey illegal orders from superiors.
It’s important for them to think critically about whether orders are lawful.
The meeting included Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, the Director General of BGB, along with other officials.
