The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has uncovered proof that shots were fired from a helicopter belonging to the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) during the protests in July and August.

The investigation revealed that Harun Ur Rashid, the Director-General of RAB at the time, had given the orders for the firing.

On Sunday, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam shared the news in a press conference.

As a result of this revelation, the tribunal has issued an arrest warrant for Harun Ar Rashid, who is facing charges related to genocide.

Tajul Islam went on to say that Harun Ur Rashid was not only responsible for directing the shooting, but he was also involved in the planning and execution of the killings.

Earlier, two police officers—Mukul Chokdar and Sub-Inspector Malek—were brought before the tribunal for their roles in the killing of six students in Ashulia, Dhaka, and the subsequent burning of their bodies.

The tribunal has allowed questioning of Mukul on January 28 and Malek on January 30.

This case continues to unfold, bringing more attention to the violence that occurred during the protests.
