The prime minister`s principal secretary on Monday asked the concerned authorities to ensure supply of edible oil, ginger, onion, garlic and other essential commodities at affordable prices in the market.
To that end, M Tofazzel Hossain Miah gave a directive to operate mobile courts, reports agencies.
He also directed the authorities concerned to take appropriate measures to ensure smooth supply of essentials to keep the market stable on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The directives came from a meeting held at the Prime Minister`s Office with Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah in the chair.
The principal secretary said that the whole world has been suffering due to price hikes of essentials. He also asked the concerned officials to take preparations so that the journeys of homebound people will be safe and smooth without any kind of suffering.
Tofazzel Hossain Miah also directed the field level officials to take proper measures to clean up the detritus of sacrificed animals quickly after Eid.
Moreover, proper monitoring instructions were also given to the local administration regarding the price of daily essential commodities in the market.
PMO Secretary Mohammad Salahuddin and officials concerned were present in the meeting.
