In a significant breakthrough, one of the prime suspects in the murder of Jhenaidah-4 (Kaliganj) MP Anwarul Azim Anar has been apprehended in Kolkata. Additionally, a three-member team from India`s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrived in Dhaka to assist with the investigation.
The assailants rented a car online on April 30, using it to transport the dismembered remains of MP Anar. The vehicle has been seized by the West Bengal CID.
On Thursday morning, the CID chief from Kolkata, along with two colleagues, landed at Dhaka`s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and subsequently visited the Indian Embassy. The team later held a meeting with Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harunur Rashid in the afternoon.
Following the meeting, DB Chief Harunur Rashid informed the media, "We are working collaboratively with Indian intelligence agencies. It`s too early to disclose details for the sake of the investigation, but we will keep the media informed in due course."
