The faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University showcased their renowned Mangal Shobhajatra and welcomed the Bangla New year 1430.
At around 9:00am, the colorful procession left the Charukola premises, and it circled the Shahbagh area and came to end at about 9:30am.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman, and DU Fine Art Dean Professor Nisar Hossain joined in the procession.
Along with the teachers and students, people from every sphere of life participated in the celebration-filled procession.
The line "Borisho dhora majhe shantiro bari," from the renowned Rabindra Sangeet, serves as the theme of this year's procession.
The six main art structures seen in this year's procession were tepa putul, bluebuck, tiger, peacock, elephant and sheep.
Since 1989, the Fine Art Faculty of DU has been arranging the Mangal Shobhajatra to welcome the Bangla New Year.
Preserving this tradition, the faculty's 68th batch organized the Mangal Shobhajatra 1430 today.
