Myanmar junta government has proposed to start dialogue to repatriate the forcibly evicted citizens of the country. Dhaka will soon hold a meeting with Naypyidaw regarding the repatriation, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Friday.
He also expressed optimism over the continuation of multi-dimensional discussions with allies to resolve the Rohingya crisis. Discussions are also going on in the United Nations, Momen said.
The conversation on Rohingya return came to a standstill during the coronavirus pandemic and later due to the military coup in Myanmar.
A China-mediated tripartite meeting was scheduled to hold in February last year but postponed later.
The foreign minister said, though no meeting was held with Myanmar regarding the Rohingya deportation, Bangladesh was always voiceful to send them back.
The government has dwelled on the diplomatic channel to create global pressure on Naypyidaw to take back its citizens.
