Home Affairs Adviser, Retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, shared that law enforcement officers who used excessive force through their actions during the July-August protests, including those who fired weapons, are being arrested.

Speaking to the media after visiting the headquarters of the Ansar and Village Defence Force in Khilgaon on Wednesday, he gave a firm assurance.

"Many police officers have been arrested after reviewing the footage of the protests. No one is being given a free pass. The arrests are ongoing and regular. We are making sure the law takes its course after proper investigations."

He also added that the media already has a list of police officers who were involved in controversial actions during the protests and called on them to submit this list to the police headquarters.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury also mentioned that the government is working to enhance the capabilities of the Ansar and Village Defence Force, not only to maintain public order but also to play a crucial role in upcoming elections.

"The government has decided to add over a lakh of young recruits to the force," he confirmed.
