After rejecting to hold any dialogue, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced its one point demand of the government`s resignation. The protesters also demanded the formation of a new national government.
Nahid Islam, one of the key coordinators of the movement, made the announcement from a massive rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.
He termed it the “demand of students.”
"We`ve reached a decision on one point of demand for the safety of human life and justice in society. The one point is the fall of this government including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the abolition of fascism," he said.
"From the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, we`ll soon announce a joint front with all levels of citizens, student organizations and all professional people for the student-citizen coup. We`ll present the national outline of future Bangladesh through discussion with everyone," the student leader said.
"Not only Sheikh Hasina, the entire government including the cabinet must resign. This fascist regime must be abolished. We want to create such a Bangladesh, we want to create such a political settlement, where no form of dictatorship-fascism can ever return,`` added Nahid.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said “I want to sit with the protesters. I want to listen to them. Ganabhaban’s gates are always open for them.”
But the leaders of the movement right away rejected the call.
