Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, left Dhaka for Qatar on Tuesday for an official visit.
He departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20 am.
During the visit, the Speaker is scheduled to meet Qatar`s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
On behalf of Bangladesh`s Prime Minister, he will also convey condolences over the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and express sympathy to the Qatari leadership and people.
The former emir is widely credited with playing a major role in Qatar`s modern development.
The Speaker is expected to return to Bangladesh on July 16 after completing the visit.
