Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday said the government would continue its legal campaign against individuals accused of looting public funds and laundering money abroad, vowing that there would be no compromise with those responsible.

Replying to a supplementary question from independent MP Rumeen Farhana in Parliament, the minister said legal proceedings had already been launched against a number of accused individuals, while investigations into others were still in progress.

He said authorities have also started the process of confiscating the assets of several suspects as part of the government‍‍`s efforts to recover illegally acquired wealth.

Khosru told the House that the government has already informed Parliament about the steps taken to address money laundering and financial crimes, including both legal and administrative actions.

Reaffirming the government‍‍`s position, the finance minister said those who embezzled national wealth and transferred it overseas would continue to face legal action.

"The BNP will not compromise with those who looted the country‍‍`s money and fled abroad. This government will not compromise, and the campaign will continue," he said.

The minister added that the drive against money laundering and illicit financial activities would remain an ongoing priority for the government.
