The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another reduction in gold prices in the domestic market. Under the latest revision, the price of 22-karat gold has been reduced by Tk 3,324 per bhori, bringing the new price to Tk 221,966 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.
BAJUS announced the decision in a statement on Thursday morning. The revised prices took effect from 10:00 am on Thursday.
According to the association, the adjustment was made after the price of pure gold (acid gold) declined in the local market. Taking the overall market situation into account, BAJUS has set new gold prices inclusive of VAT.
Under the revised price list, a bhori of 22-karat gold now costs Tk 221,966, including VAT. The price of 21-karat gold has been set at Tk 211,993 per bhori, while 18-karat gold will cost Tk 182,075 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method has been priced at Tk 148,774 per bhori.
BAJUS said the new rates will remain in effect at all jewellery stores across the country until further notice. However, making charges will vary depending on the design of the jewellery. As VAT is already included in the selling price of both gold and silver ornaments, retailers are not allowed to charge customers VAT separately. The association also said its existing rules for jewellery exchange and buyback transactions—excluding fixed VAT, making charges, and the value of any stones—will remain unchanged.
Previously, BAJUS revised gold prices on July 6, when it reduced the price of 22-karat gold by Tk 3,266 per bhori to Tk 225,290, including VAT.
Under that earlier price list, 21-karat gold was priced at Tk 215,142 per bhori, 18-karat gold at Tk 184,758, and traditional gold at Tk 150,932 per bhori. Those rates took effect at 12:15 pm on the same day.
So far this year, gold prices in Bangladesh have been adjusted 88 times. Prices have increased on 43 occasions, decreased on 44 occasions, and VAT has been revised once. In 2025, BAJUS adjusted gold prices 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Alongside gold, BAJUS has also lowered silver prices. Under the latest revision, the price of 22-karat silver has been reduced by Tk 292 per bhori to Tk 4,607, including VAT.
The new prices for other silver categories are Tk 4,374 per bhori for 21-karat silver, Tk 3,791 for 18-karat silver, and Tk 2,858 per bhori for silver produced under the traditional method.
Silver prices have been revised 54 times so far this year, with 27 increases and 27 decreases. In 2025, BAJUS adjusted silver prices 13 times, including 10 increases and three reductions.
