UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has testsed positive for coronavirus. A UN official confirmed the information to the media on Tuesday (December 6).
A number of meetings has been cancelled, as the UN chief will be isolating himself for the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, he was scheduled to attend the UN Press Association's annual gala in Manhattan, New York, on Wednesday (December 7) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Thursday (December 9).
Secretary-General's spokesman Stephen Dujarric did not immediately return calls seeking comment regarding the cancellation of the meetings.
A few days earlier, Antonio Guterres had received the third dose or booster shot agaisnst Covid-19 vaccine.
