For the first time in Bangladesh, on November 18, 2024, the Bangladesh-China Club officially launched with a modest ceremony at the Westin Hotel.
The club aims to play a significant role in fostering business and diplomatic development between Bangladesh and China.
The event was graced by Touhid Hossain as the chief guest, while special guests included Haris Bin Osman, President of the UK-Bangladesh Catalyst Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iqbal Ahmed, Independent Director of Bank Asia, and Ashraful Haque Chowdhury. Additionally, Sarah Li, Executive Chairperson of the China Development Bank (CDB), Government of China, was also present.
Other distinguished attendees included Mr. Shahjahan Bhuiyan Raju, President of the Bangladesh-China Club, Mr. Jahangir Sikdar, Secretary of the Bangladesh-China Club, and members of the Executive Committee. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a cake to mark the official inauguration of the Bangladesh-China Club.
The club is located at House No. 16/B, Road 93, Gulshan-2. Its purpose is to create a bridge for social and economic communication between the Chinese community residing in Bangladesh and the local Bangladeshi community.
Additionally, the club will work to promote cultural exchange between China and Bangladesh. Currently, nearly half a million Chinese citizens are engaged in various professions in Bangladesh. Chinese experts and significant investments in Bangladesh`s developmental projects have made a substantial contribution to the country`s progress. The Bangladesh-China Club is expected to play a vital role in advancing these activities and furthering the overall development of Bangladesh.
