Islami Andolan Bangladesh, led by the Pir of Char Monai, is set to hold a major rally at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan today, marking one of the party’s largest political gatherings since August 5 of last year.
Although the main session of the rally is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM, speeches from district-level leaders began as early as 10:00 AM.
The event will be presided over by the party’s Amir and Char Monai Pir, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, with central leadership also delivering speeches throughout the day.
Leaders from other political parties that oppose authoritarianism and advocate for proportional representation (PR) in national elections have also been invited as special guests to the event.
In preparation for the rally, hundreds of vehicles carrying Islami Andolan supporters began arriving in the capital from various parts of the country late Friday night.
Since this morning, groups of activists have been marching toward the venue in processions, creating a growing presence at Suhrawardy Udyan.
