The written examination for the 48th Special BCS, aimed at recruiting doctors, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 18, according to an official announcement from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).
This MCQ-type test will run for two hours, starting from 10:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM.
The 48th Special BCS circular was issued on May 29, targeting the appointment of 3,000 physicians, including 2,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons.
This recruitment drive is part of the government’s continued effort to fill vital vacancies in the country’s public healthcare sector.
As per the official guidelines, the exam will be held for a total of 300 marks, with 200 marks allocated to the written portion and the remaining 100 marks to the viva voce or oral examination.
Of the written portion, 100 marks will test candidates on their respective subject areas (medical or dental), while the other 100 marks will cover general knowledge.
The general knowledge section is further divided as follows: Bangla (20 marks), English (20 marks), Bangladesh Affairs (20 marks), International Affairs (20 marks), Mathematical Reasoning (10 marks), and Mental Ability (10 marks).
Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer, while each incorrect response will result in a deduction of 0.50 mark.
To qualify in the oral examination, candidates must score a minimum of 50 marks out of 100.
This special BCS follows in the footsteps of the 39th and 42nd Special BCS examinations, through which nearly 9,000 doctors were recruited to strengthen healthcare services across Bangladesh.
The upcoming exam is expected to draw significant attention, especially amid growing demand for medical professionals in the public sector.
