Australia will remove the British monarch from its banknotes. The bank said they opted to use an indigenous design for its A$5 note rather than an illustration of King Charles.
The king might appear on coins. The face of King Charles III is expected to be seen on Australian coins later this year.
The current $5 will continue to be issued until the new design is introduced and will remain legal tender even after the new bill goes into circulation.
