Kim Yo Jong said North Korea would take any US attempt to block its missile launches as a declaration of war and blamed joint military exercise between the United States and South Korea for growing tensions
The statement by Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, on Tuesday quoted a South Korean media report as saying that the United States planned to shoot down Pyongyang`s intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) if the weapons were tested in the Pacific Ocean.
The Pacific Ocean does not belong to the dominium of the U.S. or Japan," Kim said.
The United States on Monday deployed a B-52 bomber with South Korean warplanes for a joint exercise that South Korea`s defense ministry said was a show of force against North Korea`s nuclear and missile threats.
The US and South Korean militaries are also gearing up to begin their biggest military exercises later this month.
Kim Yo Jong said Pyongyang would view any US military intervention against its strategic weapons testing as a "declaration of war".
