In his victory speech, Trump took a moment to praise his running mate, JD Vance, who is set to become the next Vice President of the United States.
"I want to be the first one to congratulate—now I can say Vice President-elect JD Vance," Trump said.
He also praised Vance`s wife, Usha, calling her "remarkable" and "beautiful." The Vances were on stage with Trump, along with his wife, Melania Trump.
JD Vance:
JD Vance, 40, is a former Marine, author, and politician who is well-known for his book Hillbilly Elegy, which describes his difficult childhood in Ohio.
Vance became a U.S. Senator from Ohio in 2022, after campaigning as a conservative and a supporter of working-class Americans.
He will now be the Vice President, marking a major step in his political career.
Usha Vance, who is originally from Vadluru, a small village in India, is set to become the first "Second Lady" of the United States who is not white.
She and JD met while they were both at Yale Law School, and they married in 2014.
They have three children together.
In his speech, Trump said, "We`ve made history for a reason tonight.
We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible. This is a political victory like our country has never seen before."
Trump also thanked Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who has been a big supporter of his campaign.
"We have a new star, a star is born: Elon," Trump said, praising Musk for his backing and contributions.
Earlier in the campaign, Trump had promised to make the United States the "bitcoin and cryptocurrency capital of the world" and suggested Musk could help lead an effort to review government spending.
