Before officially taking office, Donald Trump made it clear that he plans to crack down on immigration.
On Sunday, January 19, in Washington D.C., thousands of supporters gathered at a rally where Trump shared his plans for his first day as president.
He reassured the crowd that he would follow through on his campaign promises, saying,
"After sunset on Monday, illegal immigration into our country will come to a halt."
His words were met with cheers from the crowd.
Trump, as he often does, used the rally to energize his supporters with bold statements, promises, and a touch of bravado.
He proudly declared,
“This is the greatest political movement in American history, and 75 days ago we secured the most monumental political victory our country has ever seen. Starting tomorrow (Monday), I will begin working with full speed to address every issue facing our nation.”
This rally marked Trump`s return to Washington, D.C., for a major political event since the events of January 6, 2021.
Looking ahead, it’s expected that Trump’s speech at this rally, along with the one he will deliver after being sworn in as president on Monday, will provide a clear picture of what his second term will look like.
Trump is set to take the oath of office at 12:00 PM local time in Washington D.C. on Monday.
Afterward, he has vowed to immediately begin reversing what he called the "radical and foolish executive orders" made by the Biden administration.
