The UK has launched a major operation aimed at finding and arresting illegal immigrants, similar to the actions taken in the United States under President Donald Trump.

According to Indian news outlet NDTV, the operation, known as "UK-wide Blitz," has been targeting various businesses like Indian restaurants, nail bars, convenience stores, and car washes.

These are places where many immigrant workers are employed, often without legal documentation.

In the past few days, UK authorities have conducted several raids across the country. In one case, seven individuals were arrested as illegal immigrants from an Indian restaurant in the Humber side area of Northern England. Additionally, four other people were detained on similar charges.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper spoke out, saying, "Immigration laws must be followed. For years, employers have been exploiting illegal workers without facing any consequences."

According to the British government, the number of arrests has increased by 73% compared to last year.

They also sent out 1,090 notices to employers who are hiring workers without the proper legal documents.

The UK government also reported that, in January alone, there were 828 raids, a 48% increase from the same time last year.

During these raids, 609 people were arrested in just one month.

With more right-wing parties like "Reform UK" pushing for stricter immigration laws, the ruling Labour Party is facing growing pressure to adopt tougher immigration policies.
