Dr Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel laureate, expressed dissatisfaction over Grameen Bank seizing eight of their institutions.
The micro-credit based financial institution was operating these institutions in its own way, he complained.
Dr Yunus claimed that despite asking for help, the police had not offered him any support.
“We are in a terrible state,” he said in a press conference organized at Grameen Telecom building in Mirpur of the capital on Thursday afternoon.
The Economics Professor told the press conference that on February 12, eight offices located in this building were taken over by Grameen Bank.
He said, "Since that day, they have locked the building. How do you feel if someone else locks your house? Then why the legal system is existing in the country? They (Grameen Bank) don`t want to go to court.”
“We have seen many disasters in life. I have never seen such a disaster,” Yunus stressed.
He said that he will approach the court in this regard.
Managing Director of Grameen Telecom Nazmul Islam, Managing Director of Grameen Kalyan AKM Moinuddin Chowdhury were present among others.
