Former Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, the former Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), has been placed on an eight-day remand.
A Dhaka court passed the order on Friday afternoon, after the police sought 10 days to interrogate him.
The ex-NTMC chief was arrested late last night from Dhaka’s Khilkhet area.
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the arrest was made following a tip-off and is related to an ongoing case filed at the New Market Police Station.
