Ruling party man allegedly slaps female lawmaker

A ruling part law maker on Friday alleged that she was assaulted by a fellow party leader at a programme in the Jamalpur district  on Thursday night.

The parliamentarian Hosne Ara, of Jamalpur-Sherpur-316 (reserved seat for female), brought allegations against Islampur upazila unit Awami League‘s labour affairs secretary Anwar Hossain at a press briefing on Friday. 

Hosne Ara, member of the same unit claimed that the man slapped her in the face.

“All on a sudden while I was delivering my speech around 10:00pm at the upazila unit party office, Anwar Hossain asked me who I was and why I went there. He then slapped me in front of State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Huq Khan,” she said. 

Faridul, also a ruling Awami League lawmaker from Jamalpur-2 (Islampur), told the media that Hosne Ara brought a false allegation against Anwar with a political motive. 

No such incident happened at the discussion, he claimed.
