Seven people have been arrested in connection with the brutal killing of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur, law enforcement authorities confirmed on Saturday.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Rabiul Hasan said the detainees were directly involved in the attack and would be interrogated to determine the motive. Details will be disclosed at a press briefing, he added.
Those arrested are Faisal alias Ketu Mizan — identified by police as the mastermind — his wife Golapi, Suman, Al Amin, Swadhin, Md Shah Jalal (32), and Md Faisal Hasan (23).

Detectives arrested Faisal, Golapi, and Suman from Bhabanipur in Gazipur Sadar, while Basan Police detained Al Amin from Uttara’s Turag area in Dhaka. Tuhin, 38, a staff reporter for the daily Protidiner Kagoj in Gazipur, was hacked to death on Thursday night at Chandna Chowrasta. His elder brother filed a case against unidentified assailants following the incident.
The slain journalist is survived by his wife Mukta Akter and two sons, Toukir (7) and Fahim (3). He began his journalism career in 2012 after working in the pharmaceutical sector, having previously completed his graduation from Bhawal College in Gazipur.
Police say questioning of the suspects is underway, and the exact motive behind the murder will be disclosed later.
