A mobile court of the Department of Environment (DoE) has fined six unauthorised brick kilns a total of Tk19.5 lakh during a drive in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district.
Two of the brick kilns were also demolished for illegally producing bricks, officials said.
The operation was conducted on Tuesday by a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sajjad Zahid Ratul.
During the drive, the owner of Messrs Barna Bricks was fined Tk2 lakh, while the owner of Messrs Prottay Bricks was fined Tk3.5 lakh.
The owners of Messrs ADB Bricks and Messrs Lamia Bricks were each fined Tk3 lakh.
Meanwhile, the owner of Messrs Mama-Bhagne Bricks was fined Tk5 lakh and the owner of Messrs RFB Bricks was fined Tk3 lakh.
Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Tuhin Alam, prosecutor Shahin Alam, and members of RAB, police and the Ansar Battalion took part in the operation.
Officials said such drives against illegal brick kilns would continue.
