BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has criticized the recent report by The New York Times, calling it a product of "defeated forces" spreading false information.
He alleged that allies of fascist elements are funding such reports to tarnish Bangladesh’s image.
Speaking to the media at the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, Rizvi claimed that there has been no rise in extremism in Bangladesh and denied any threat of fascism in the country.
Instead, he asserted that people are practicing their religion peacefully and enjoying freedom of speech.
He further stated that Bangladeshis celebrated Eid without fear, unlike in the past, and accused the ruling Awami League of spreading disinformation worldwide.
Rizvi alleged that Sheikh Hasina`s government has staged "dramas" under the guise of countering militancy as a political strategy to remain in power.
He referenced a book by a former Inspector General of Police (IGP) that, according to him, supports this claim.
Additionally, Rizvi accused Awami League leaders of using black money to damage Bangladesh’s reputation and claimed that those who have fled the country are attempting to create instability.
