Neither the government, nor Awami League is trying the BNP’s anti-government rally, rather extended administrative support, said the ruling party's general secretary, Obaidul Quader.
"And (we) will never do so," Obaidul told reporters at Shetu Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday, adding that, Awami League or the government did not create any trouble during its recent rally in Chattogram.
"There was no transport strike, so why was not the rally venue full of people in Chattogram?" he questioned.
He went on to say that neither the government nor the Awami League is intimidating the upcoming rally in Khulna.
Transport workers and owners in the southwestern region said they would suspend bus services in Khulna ahead of the BNP rally on Saturday as they are afraid of violence, he furthered.
“What can the government or Awami League do (in that case)?” said Obaidul, also the road, transport and bridges minister.
